About Sedgeberrow Flood Group ----

The aim of the Flood Group is to increase the resilience within Sedgeberrow to flooding by developing a robust, co-ordinated approach that compliments the plans of any responding agencies. In order to achieve this aim the Sedgeberrow Flood Group currently meets quarterly and would like to achieve the objectives detailed below:

To identify the risks to the Community in the event of a localised or more severe flooding event and relevant response actions

To identify vulnerable people within the Community.

To identify resources within the Community available to assist during an emergency.

To provide key contact details for the Sedgeberrow Flood Group, Key Community Resources, the Emergency Services and Local Authorities. And to consider the longer term issues of land management in the River Isbourne catchment.

On going activity

Through dogged determination we have been fortunate in obtaining a warning siren, which we are currently working towards fitting in a suitable place in the village. Further news on this project will be issued as the installation programme is agreed.

We have an ongoing dialogue with both the Environment Agency covering a wide variety of flood related issues such as reducing surface water run off from farmed areas within the River Isbourne catchment, and assisting, where possible, with flood affected residents ongoing problems with Insurance companies.

We continue to keep in contact with Wychavon District Council regarding any available grant monies for flood affected communities and Severn Trent Water to ensure our knowledge of the Sedgeberrow sewerage system is always up to date and to investigate any possible means of alleviating flooding from sewers.
